medicine and typhoon

got a medical exam today. this is somehow required for my work permit. apparently a few years ago you had to provide both a urine and stool sample. luckily, this is no longer the case. i just had to give some blood and read some eye charts. oh, and get a chest x-ray. i assume this has something to do with SARS, but i'm not exactly sure. anywho, it was awfully nice to know that soon i'll have health care again. it's nice health care, too. SO fast, and seemingly quality; i could barely tell that i had a needle in my arm when they took my blood. much nicer than the Bloodmobile nurses who poke so many holes in your arms you think you'll leak to death later.

in other news, there's a typhoon heading for taiwan this weekend. hit the phillipines earily this week, and is on it's way up the strait. usually the typhoons are 'disappointing' here, meaning nothing exciting like death or destruction generally happens. we'll see. my roommate david and i were thinking of going to taipei tomorrow, but if the typhoon actually hits, we probably can't go. hope the typhoon doesn't hit, because i want to check things out.
