typhoon day

yahoo! this is the second typhoon day we've had in a month. i love it. typhoon day means no school, no government, so basically it's every child anarchist's dream. im happy more because of the former closing than the latter, but whatever.

in any case, this means that, instead of teaching children - what i would be doing right now had another typhoon not decided to jump upon taiwan - im sitting in my room, writing a blog, about to take out my book (the witching hour, anne rice. it was time for some gothic smut). 7-11 and about 1/3 of the stores will still be open, so i wont die of diet coke depravation.

and mom, dont worry, not only are typhoons nothing compared to most other natural distasters, hsinchu hardly gets hit. really, it's so funny to see people freaking out about gusts of wind that in chicago would be considered pleasant. and while the amount of rain is truely impressive, nothing is floating down the street yet. i guess on other parts of the island the effects are far more sobering, but here, it's like a thunderstorm without the thunder.

so, let the weekend begin. i hope the dvd store is open tomorrow. im going to need back up.
